MATHIEU DESAILLY

Mathieu Desailly started as a set designer for film, theatre, opera (Alexandre Trauner’s assistant) and television, before becoming an independent graphic designer in 1988. He worked as part of a graphic design collective in Paris, winning a communications contract for Le Printemps de Bourges, which he worked on for four years. He moved to Brittany in 1995 and worked for various cultural organisations in the region, including the Brittany Symphony Orchestra, Mythos festival, Les Tombées de la nuit, Paroles d’hiver festival, Poche festival, Lanvellec festival and the British Film Festival. He has worked with many theatres, such as Grand Théâtre de Lorient, Le Carré - scène nationale de Chateau-Gontier, l’Aire Libre (St-Jacques de la Lande), Le Strapontin (Pont-Scorff), Théâtre ONYX (St-Herblain), Le Canal (Redon), and most recently, Cirque Théâtre d’Elbeuf and La Brèche in Cherbourg. He has also worked with Rennes 1 and Rennes 2 Universities and has created book covers for publishers Éditions Thierry Magnier. He develops partnerships with theatre companies (e.g. Label Brut, Théâtre du phare, Cie Forget me not, Cie Vis Comica) and dance companies (Fabrice Lambert), and he has designed sets for Cie Forget me not. In 2003, he founded the Le jardin graphique collective and in 2016, the tout reste à faire collective.
